In Ayutthaya, we stayed at Tony's Place, which was a short walk from the bus station. At 550B per night, we had a really clean and nicely furnished room, though the location right above the restaurant made it difficult to sleep. Other than that, it was a clean and nicely furnished room, especially for the price.
TIP: Does your SE Asian bathroom have a funky smell? All you need to do is close the drain to the sink when it's not in use
Otherwise you're basically letting the sewage air take over your room.
