Review of Long Hostel in Saigon, Vietnam

Where We Slept is our hotel roundup from our time on the road. We hope it helps budget travelers see how far their dollar can go--even though sometimes, it's not far enough!

Saigon is one of those cities that you don't want to show up to without a hotel reservation. (To be honest, that's my advice for most big cities. Not the best place to wing it!)

In Saigon, we stayed at Long Hostel at the edge of the Pham Ngu Lao backpacker area.

For $18, we had a pretty nice room with a small balcony and free breakfast. The Long family was also extremely sweet and welcoming, giving us iced tea and bananas when we arrived and tons of information before we set out to explore Saigon.

Lina in the Cu Chi tunnels… barely able to kneel

The family speaks English fairly well and are more than happy to help out, so use them to your advantage. Booking tours through them didn't seem to incur an upcharge, so we booked our Cu Chi tunnel tour at the desk. Well worth it!
