Have beaches, volcanos, and waterfalls to yourself on Lombok.
Arriving Lombok by ferry
beach north of Senggigi
beach north of Senggigi
cove north of Senggigi
walking toward the end of a cove north of Senggigi
taking cover from the sun below some trees
Lunch spot
we had this beach all to ourselves
another cove, no tourists in sight
sundown on Lombok, looking towards Bali
the sun starts to tuck itself behind Bali's volcano
sun, tucked
the final colors from sundown start to fade away… Bali's volcano in the distance
closest waterfall to Senaru
closest waterfall to Senaru
our favorite Senaru waterfall
the water was quite cold!
the "best" access to the waterfalls of Senaru is down the steps behind this sign
view above the forest line on our way up to Rinjani
clouds poke their way in, making us fear that we won't see anything at the top
porters carry loads at both ends of a long stick
Bali's volcano peaks out in the distance
high in the sky, you can see the sea and the land that is mostly at sea level
The 3 famous Gilis appear before Bali's volcano on the horizon
a hilly climb, the vegetation starts to disappear
the reward. Rinjani!
a volcano within a volcanic crater!
exhausted and excited to make it to the top. so lucky that the crater wasn't clouded over
The crater is so lush with vegetation
steep
Lina strikes a pose with Rinjani
Looking on at Rinjani
Rinjani HDR
the big guided groups leave trash everywhere. They attempt to burn everything… plastic, metal, etc. Instead they just leave half burnt trash with live embers.
trash scattered around the bin. ruins the atmosphere
hills and a tiny bit of Bali
flowers emerge on our way back down. what you miss hiking in the dark!
